   Champions for Children Banquet

The Early Learning Centers of Lubbock will hold their 2nd annual Champions for Children Banquet, honoring those who teach our young children on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 11:30a.m. in celebration of Week of the Young child.

Today we know, more than ever before, the importance of children's earliest years in shaping their learning and development.  Yet, never before have the needs of young children and their families been more pressing.

The Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize that children's opportunities are our responsibilities, and to recommit ourselves to ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early environment--at home, at child care, at school, and in the community--that will promote their early learning.

The Early Learning Centers will recognized five individuals who have recognized this responsibility and made a difference.

HONOREES

Robbie McGrew Award--This award will be presented to Canzada Bray, retired teacher from Nat Williams Elementary and volunteer at Murfee Elementary.

Childcare Teacher of Young Children--This award will be given to Ruby Phenix, Toddler Teacher at Carver ELC for the last 45 years.

ISD Teacher of Young Children--This award will be presented to Susan Weiland with Ballenger Early Childhood School.

Early Learning Centers Volunteer of the Year--This award will be awarded to the volunteer students at Trinity Christian Schools, group sponsor Janet Kitten.
